Document Preparation

Free Resources

In partnership with the California Judicial Council and LawHelp Interactive, we provide to self-represented litigants in Civil and Family Law cases guided questionnaires for completing several types of forms packets. Using these questionnaires, you can begin working on your court forms online 24/7 from any location where you have access to the internet from a computer, laptop, tablet, or cell phone.

Each of the questionnaires focus on completing the paperwork for either starting a new case, responding to a case filed against you, or preparing necessary forms for a case that has already started. We strongly recommend that you create a free online account as part of completing your paperwork. This allows you to save your progress, so that you do not lose any of the work you have started. Follow-up with the Self-Help Center if you have any questions or need help completing your paperwork.

PLEASE NOTE: THE COURT DOES NOT HAVE ACCESS TO YOUR ACCOUNT, AND THE PROGRAM DOES NOT FILE YOUR DOCUMENTS FOR YOU.

Once your forms are complete, you may eFile them, file them in person or send them by mail to the appropriate address listed below.  You cannot file by email.

  • Nevada City Clerk’s Office
201 Church St, Nevada City CA 95959
  • Truckee Clerk’s Office
10075 Levon Ave, Truckee CA 96161

If a filing fee is required for your document(s), that needs to be submitted with the documents.

If you would like to file remotely, you can use an eFiling service.  You will find a list of eFiling Service Providers here.
