Appointment of Commissioner Robert J. Brodnik

Nevada County Superior Court is pleased to announce the appointment of Commissioner Robert J. Brodnik to fill the judicial vacancy created by the election of Commissioner Jason C. LaChance as Judge for Sierra County. Commissioner Brodnik will begin his service at Nevada County Superior Court on September 23rd, 2024 and will be assigned to departments in both Nevada City and Truckee branch courthouses. 

Prior to his appointment, Commissioner Brodnik served as the Chief Counsel for the California Horse Racing Board where he began his service as Staff Counsel in 2018. Prior to his work with CHRB, Commissioner Brodnik served as a Deputy District Attorney in Solano County as well as an Associate in the Law Offices of Alin Cintean. Commissioner Brodnik’s experience includes work with the San Francisco Public Defender’s Office and the US Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California. 

Commissioner Brodnik earned a B.A. from the University of California, Davis and a Juris Doctor degree from San Francisco Law School. Commissioner Brodnik lives in Nevada County with his wife and two children. 

“I am honored to have been selected to serve the Court and the people of Nevada County as Court Commissioner. Nevada County is a very special place, and I look forward to upholding the mission of the Court in my new role,” Commissioner Brodnik said. 

The Judges and staff of the court are pleased to welcome Commissioner Brodnik to the Nevada County Superior Court and look forward to working with him.
